We are all aware of the benefits of exercise, and in the past few years the media has increasingly bombarded us with fitness-related information, advice and products.
I am just beginning week 29 of my pregnancy, with 11 weeks to D-day. Quite often when I mention that I’ve continued to instruct my fitness classes and maintain a semblance to my regular exercise regimen, I’m often reprimanded for not ‘slowing down’ or greeted with gasps of surprise.
Many of us sit hunched in front of a desk all day only to drop on the couch after a long day and sit hunched back on the couch in front of the TV for the evening. All this slouching can lead to really poor posture and back pain. Personally, I am quite aware that I have allowed my back muscles to weaken to the point where I have developed a painful knot of muscles on my right shoulder blade, located at a rib attachment.
Happy New Year! I'm not going to do the same old New Year's Resolution spiel - but I did come up with a new idea to get my rear in gear following the overindulgence of the holiday season. You might practice the "swear jar" in your home, where offenders with potty mouths must deposit change into a jar anytime they utter a bad word? I had modified this idea to suit my distaste for the current habit my children have of saying "like" out of context, rather than thinking out their sentences before speaking. And so the "LIKE" jar (said with a 'Valley girl' accent) was established.
